Hello again and thank you for visiting the Social Media updates page for December. I hope you are all keeping well and surviving through what seems to be restrictions upon restrictions.I sincerely hope that these social media images will help you in the coming weeks, along with the many others that I have released in the last 6 months. They can all be found, along with this post's update, over on the Optometry Social Media Gallery page.

APPOINTMENT ONLY - DECEMBER

Appointment Only - December

As the lockdown restrictions have been replaced now with a tiered system - including most of the UK still being in some form of lockdown situation - I have created an "Appointment Only" for December. This theme is likely to continue into the new year.

EAT BLUE, SEE TRUE

Blueberries with the caption

Use this bright and bold image of blueberries to discuss the importance of diet and eye health. The blueberry is a tasty and very healthy component to the diet, with studies stating a great effect on maintaining good eye health.

IS IT IN YOUR GENES?

Is it in your genes? A Strand of DNA

As optometrists (and other eye care professionals!), we know that a variety of different ocular conditions have a genetic origin. Use this image to talk about genetics, encourage discussion with patients to find out their family history of eye disease and to prompt regular eye examinations to ensure early signs of genetic-linked diseases (such as glaucoma) are detected early.

Don't forget that Eyes On Eye Care has an Instagram account too - so please consider following - as often images destined for general release are showcased on the account before being shared here!

SMOKING CAUSES BLINDNESS

Smoking Causes Blindness

We should all know by now that smoking is not good for the health. As eye care professionals we know that smoking is linked to increased risk of cataract, macular degeneration and dry eye (among other conditions). Use this image to highlight to your patients the risk that smoking poses to both their health and their sight.

This concludes the December 2020 update and I hope some of these images prove useful to you. I intend, both IP studies, work and other life-admin depending, to have one or two extra images shared ready for Christmas. Be sure to keep watch on this site and on the Eyes On Eye Care Facebook Page for updates.

Until then, stay safe!

Jason
